In September 2007 Kuoda Tours began an ongoing effort to support the schools in an community near Chinchero, Peru. The school consists of approximately 132 students attending grades 1-6, and a separate kindergarten with 16 students from 4 to 6 years of age.
Through our clients´ and our own efforts, and including the donations of our clients´ friends and family, the following have already been provided:
Two blackboards, two teacher´s desks with chairs, books, notebooks, writing implements and art supplies. The school has an ongoing need for jump ropes, soccer and plastic balls and other sports equipment; more blackboards and desks for the teachers and students, paper, notebooks, art supplies and writing implements, and school supplies such as glue, erasers, rulers, etc.
Kuoda´s ongoing effort toward the School includes:
- Checking monthly with the teachers to assess the need for supplies, and making a monthly donation of supplies that have run out and are needed.
- Helping our clients donate supplies to the school and providing visits with the children where our clients can assist in the classroom
- We are developing an interchange program with a US school, for cultural exchange and development of international community awareness for both Peruvian and North American youngsters
If you would like to help either by donating supplies or money for supplies, and/or if you would like to include a visit to the schools in your program, please contact us. We encourage our clients to become involved in this ongoing project to support the well-being of children in Peru and to expand their awareness of Latin American and world community and culture. |
