The lodge is built of wood using typical materials of the region; the roofs are thatched with palm leaves.

The Muyuna Amazon Lodge is located on the Yanayacu River bank, 135 km. / 83 mi. southeast and three hours by speedboat from Iquitos. Since it is so far from civilization, the opportunities to observe nature are much greater here than in places closer to the city. The lodge was designed and constructed by workers from the local village and is built in the traditional design of the area. Each bungalow is protected by a mosquito net and has a terrace with its own hammock facing the river, where dolphins as well as fish can be seen during the river's flood times.
San Juan de Yanayacu is a small village close to the lodge that one can visit and experience cultural interchanges with the residents. There is no electricity in the lodge; the oil lamps give the place a magical feel at night. All walkways are well lit. |
